Hand
Scraped Coated Ways
All Parker Majestic reciprocating table surface grinders
feature hand scraped coated ways. Hand scraped ways provide
maximum bearing area promote good oil flow and a long, accurate
life. Bearing material is bonded to the ways for an extremely
low coefficient of friction, allowing the table to begin moving
without "stick-slip." This coating also reduces
the wear on the cast iron portions of travel ways. The "V"
and flat way construction maintains an excellent fit over
the life of the machine.
Precision Heavy Duty Spindles
Parker Majestic grinding spindles benefit from our more
than 73 years of experience in manufacturing all types of
precision spindles. The spindles are accurate and durable.
Every spindle is balanced to laboratory precision. Both direct
drive motorized and belt drive spindles are available with
variable speed options.
Reciprocating Table Feed
A handwheel in conjunction with stainless steel tapes wound around steel drums moves the table. This system gives a better finish than the more common gear and rack type drives. The table moves on flat and "V" type ways which provide maximum usable bearing area. Table travel is approximately 3" (75mm) per revolution of the handwheel.
Cast Iron Construction
All major machine components are made of high quality
rigid cast iron. This stable machine structure plus the hand
scraping provides many years of accurate operation long after
other grinders are worn out.
Ease of Operation
Handwheels on Parker Majestic 6" x 18" and 8"
x 18" surface grinders are located at the operators
waist level for operating ease. A pushbutton operated drive
motor moves the grinding wheel and spindle up and down for
rapid positioning.
Lubrication
Parker Majestic spindles are grease packed with lifetime
grease. A metered oil delivery system lubricates the slides
and ways. A pump is conveniently located for the machine operator
to pull a handle once a day to maintain proper lubrication.
An optional electric pump is available.
Crossfeed Saddle Lock
This feature is standard equipment on all 6" x 18" and 8" x 18" surface grinders and enables the machine operator to accurately position the work in relation to the grinding wheel and to lock the crossfeed without resorting to unwieldy clamps. The "non-influence" type lock is a real timesaver.
Saddle Type Crossfeed
The saddle carrying the worktable moves on double V-type ways by means of a precision lead screw and nut. The graduated vernier dial segment permits crossfeed movements down to .0001" (metric graduations also available). A knurled knob at the center of the handwheel can be loosened for setting the main graduated dial to any point desired.
Elevating Handwheel
One revolution of the controlling handwheel causes the spindle to elevate .010". Each graduation of the handwheel has large linear spacing and each space indicates a vertical spindle movement of only .0001" (metric graduations also available).
